Alchemy Boulders (Pvt.) Ltd, established in 1996, is the largest and leading quartz mining, processing and export company in Sri Lanka. Alchemy Boulders is in the operations of mining and mineral processing. Headquartered in Kandy, Sri Lanka (with branch offices in Singapore, South Korea and Japan), Alchemy is strategically positioned to extract and distribute the valuable resource worldwide.

Sri Lanka is a rich source of quartz. Vein quartz deposits of over 99.98% purity are found in the central highlands of the island. Vein quartz normally occurs on the surface as very large boulders and in some instances can cover areas of over 4 hectares. Deposits have even been known to extend inwards in depth. Although no estimates of deposits are currently available, the deposit mined by Alchemy Boulders has been estimated to contain 20 million tons of quartz.

Currently, Alchemy is the sole legitimate quartz processing firm in Sri Lanka and possesses the latest industrial infrastructure to practice a systematic and professionally managed operation. Alchemy takes a stringent approach to control the quality of its products by possessing a well equipped laboratory which interacts with reputed and recognized laboratories in the USA and Australia.

The core activities of Alchemy has received recognition from the Government of Sri Lanka, in the form of a gazette notification for the introduction of advanced technology in mineral processing. This marked a new chapter in the mineral industry in Sri Lanka. Having amassed a wealth of experience in mining and mineral processing, Alchemy now possesses the resources and flexibility to become a pioneer in catering to the requirements of the mineral supporting industries worldwide.

The year 2000 ushered in a new chapter for Alchemy. From humble beginnings the firm had grown to become a progressive and dynamic player in the worldwide industry.

In 2000, Alchemy became an export oriented company under the Sri Lanka Board of Investment insignia. The capability of Alchemy to supply quality processed quartz at a high rate of capacity and to any given size distribution has impressed prominent customers; as a result the company has established a solid institutional client base worldwide. The company constantly keeps abreast with the latest developments and absorbs such knowledge into its high-tech operations.

Alchemy is now embarking on a new concept to develop high purity quartz with chemical intervention. This development will enable the company to produce high purity quartz to meet the criteria for the manufacture of high-end products in the global markets.
